The Vision
When the Harrison family approached us, they had a clear vision: transform their 1970s split-level into a modern sanctuary that honored the home's mid-century bones while bringing it firmly into the 21st century.
The Challenge
The original layout compartmentalized the living spaces, blocking natural light and creating a disconnected flow. Our task was to open the home while maintaining structural integrity and the clients' budget.
Our Approach
We began with extensive demolition of non-load-bearing walls, then introduced a dramatic double-height ceiling in the main living area. Floor-to-ceiling windows replaced the original small openings, flooding the space with natural light.
Key Design Elements
- Material Palette: Warm white oak flooring, honed marble countertops, and blackened steel accents
- Lighting Design: Integrated LED cove lighting and statement pendant fixtures
- Custom Millwork: Built-in storage solutions that maximize every inch
The Result
The completed home earned recognition in Architectural Digest's "Best Renovations" feature and, more importantly, provides the Harrison family with a space that truly reflects their lifestyle.
